Hey everyone, and welcome to my very first blog post on this platform! I hope you are all doing amazing and well! My name is Jaena, and if you want to read about me or any of the other amazing girlies that write blog posts, you can check them out here! So today I am going to be writing about some of my favorite back to school tips for all my online students out there! If you are at an in-person school, these can help you out as well!
Coming from a teenager myself, going to sleep early for me is such a struggle! Does anyone else relate lol?! I try to get at least 8 hours of sleep, especially on school days! If you have trouble falling asleep or waking up early, you can try using the alarms that don’t turn off until you answer the math problems (I have used them, and they definitely wake me up!) You can also try going to sleep about an hour before you really want to go to sleep, to get yourself more tired!
3. Have a workspace!
I know not everyone has a desk or office in your room or house, but having a designated workspace that is tidy, organized, and clean is key to a productive school day! Whether it be your kitchen counter, dining room table, or even outside, a nice workspace where it is very calm with no distractions is vital! Make it personalized to you, add some of your favorite candles or lights, customize your area with prints or some stickers from my Etsy shop (linked below!) But out of my personal experience, I would not recommend working on your bed because of the straining it causes on your neck if you don’t have a little lap table! Make sure you aren’t looking down too much or for a long period of time, and be safe!
4. Put electronics away!
It is so easy to see one notification on your phone, and get into a never-ending cycle of not being able to put it down! I’ve been there guys, it is real!! Making sure you have no distractions, especially other devices or electronics while you're studying or working, is so important! That could be powering it off and putting it away, turning off the ringer, putting it on “Do Not Disturb” mode or using apps like Flora that try to keep you working by having you grow a plant, and whenever you leave the app your plant dies.
5. Stay hydrated!
Water is so important to every person ever! Drinking water keeps you hydrated, which prevents screen headaches (and just regular headaches in general!) Always having a glass of water or a water bottle is key!
6. Be organized, be comfy, and take breaks!
Staying organized is such an amazing feeling! If that is keeping a little journal with you, writing down your due dates, or when you're going to be working, having a planner or notebook, using sticky notes, whatever method works for you! I take digital notes on my iPad and also use my notebook to keep track of school due dates, and all of the fun stuff. You can download free To-Do templates, like the free one in one of the previous blog posts! Taking breaks is also very important. It is good to study but staring at a screen for many hours on end is not good for your eyes! Take a short break and maybe read or book, or just lay down. Breaks are just as important as working, and be sure to never overwork yourself! You should also wear clothes that you are comfortable that will make you feel productive as well! Have fun with online school, ask questions if you need them, stay dedicated, and it will be an amazing school year or semester!
